How can Reiki help animals?
Animals, like humans, can become ill, injured, emotionally upset,
stressed or traumatised, and like humans, they can also benefit from
Reiki.
Reiki can help animals in many ways. It can assist healing in injured or sick animals, and can also heal on the emotional and spiritual level. For highly strung or stressed animals it can help relax and reduce stress. It can be beneficial for animals who have suffered abuse or emotional trauma, who may be in need of emotional healing. Reiki can accelerate recovery after surgery as well as provide comfort during times of transition, not only for the animal, but for it's human companions as well. In healthy animals Reiki can maintain health and vitality. Reiki works very well to support the work of other therapies and
will
often speed healing times.
How many treatments will my animal need?
This can vary depending on the condition and length of time the
condition has been manifest. In some cases one treatment can bring swift
results and be all that is needed, in other cases such as in chronic
illness or long standing conditions, several treatments may be required
to improve health and bring more lasting results. It is generally
recommended that healing treatments be
carried out over a number of consecutive days initially, followed by
weekly or fortnightly treatments as necessary. Treatments can be a combination of hands on treatments and distance healing.
Distance healing treatments for your animal
Because Reiki energy is not limited by time or
distance, distance
healing, also known as absent healing, may be sent to your animal without your animal
being present. This means that I don't have to be in the same room,
town or even country for your animal to receive a Reiki treatment from me. Distance healing
sessions can be just as powerful as if your animal was
receiving a hands on treatment.
Normally distance healing is sent over a series of
days for a set amount
of time for each of those days. A distance healing treatment can be given to your animal in their own environment meaning they will be more relaxed in their own familiar surroundings
and therefore more open to receiving the Reiki energy. An animal does not have to be restrained to receive a Reiki distance healing treatment and by being allowed to roam freely while the energy is offered, the animal is allowed the freedom to choose how it will receive it's treatment.
Reiki treatments can be given safely to any animal under
virtually any circumstances. Because a Reiki treatment can be given
from a distance it makes it particularly useful when treating wild
animals or animals who are wary of strangers.
Arranging distance healing treatments for your animal
Each
treatment is generally between 20 - 45 minutes long and will vary
according to your animal's preference at the time. As with hands on healing treatments the number of distance healing
treatments will vary depending on the condition and length of time
the condition has
been manifest. You may wish to arrange a single treatment, or choose a course of distance healing treatments.

Reiki treatments for horses
Horses are very open to receiving Reiki energy and I've found it very
beneficial in many different situations such as calming a nervous
floater, or aiding a mare at foaling time, for horses recovering from
injury, at times of transition, and when going through emotional trauma such as
losing a foal or paddock mate. I've also found Reiki particularly calming for horses during
stressful situations such as showing and participating in endurance
events.
Arranging Reiki treatments for your horse
I prefer to treat horses in their own environment, preferably in a peaceful area away from noise or activity if possible. I feel it best if the horse’s usual carer is present during the treatment, as it will help your horse to feel more comfortable during the treatment, although it is not necessary to restrain your horse during the treatment as this takes away his choice of how he wishes to receive the healing. I can treat your horse in his paddock if necessary. Some horses prefer to receive Reiki from a distance, some prefer hands on healing treatments. They will let me know.
Reiki is not a substitute for veterinary care
Reiki treatments should not be construed as a substitute for
veterinary examination, diagnosis, or treatment and you should see a
qualified veterinarian for any physical ailment in your animal of which
you are aware. Reiki practitioners do not diagnose conditions nor do
they prescribe or perform medical or veterinary treatment, prescribe
substances, nor interfere with the treatment of a licensed medical or
veterinary professional.
Reiki is a non-medical therapy that complements and supports all
other healing therapies, including veterinary medicine, and will
complement any veterinary care your animal may be receiving.
