I'd like to share my own experience with you too...
I was first introduced to Reiki in 1990 at a time when my life was experiencing 'a little turbulence' and I was facing some interesting challenges. I was also pregnant and to say that I was feeling the pressure is an understatement.
A friend suggested I see her therapist for some Reiki but didn't really explain much about it, other than 'trust me, it'll help!"
I duly presented myself to her therapist, a serene, gentle woman who reminded me of an angel and although she didn't really explain much about Reiki, there was something about her that I trusted, so placed myself in her hands, so to speak.
I can still recall the powerful sense of serenity that stayed with me throughout the weeks following the treatment, along with a renewed sense of purpose, clarity of thought and a feeling like a great weight had been lifted from my shoulders. It was the first time in my life I ever felt 'connected'.
But most interesting of all was that I felt a spiritual connection to my unborn child that no words can describe. I had not felt it prior to the treatment. It was deeply moving and had such a profound effect on me that I knew then that I wanted to devote my life to healing.
The bond I felt with my child after that first treatment has remained throughout the years and to this day stands strong.
